• Royal Enfields are everywhere here…they have been produced here in India since 1955 and they are really pretty bikes.

  • The folks at work threw Dar a swell party this afternoon….this is Dar after walking in and seeing his cake….a very cool, red guitar cake – and yes….he was ecstatic but folks, you should know that the tiara was something Dar instituted for all celebrants to wear so he only has himself to blame…

ohh and the other birthday ritual is to smear cake on the birthday parties guest of honor but I am not sure that this is a trend he started but he sure got his full due and took it like a man.

  • Everywhere here, there are walls with shards of glass that attempt to prevent trespassers.  While this means of thwarting potential criminals is utilized around the world, I was struck by the red paint under the glass shards….it gave me the shivers.

  • Ok, so well there are days, like yesterday, when due to traffic, cows, or otherwise unknown reasons, I spend a serious amount of time getting from one place to another….

Amusing myself with my camera or on days when I feel truly wild and loose all abandon, my ipod and my camera is contributing to my sanity maintenance…and has the benefit of you seeing what I see (I go past these fruit carts weekly) oh, and good news…mango season has arrived.

  • After blistering days of 90 plus, the evenings of late have brought thunder storms, the kind of winds that blow your clothes right off the line (hummm, yep that happened) and plenty of rain.

Yesterday I heard a huge crash, looked outside and some poor buggers car …. well, you can see what happened.  While there is no PG&E or agency to hall away the debris, by 8 am the next morning a group of enterprising fellows had pulled down and
cut up (with hand saws) the fallen limb and the street was clear….

  • Had to …. just had to post this.  So back story is that in B'lore, like any big city, there are malls.  And as with any good mall, they have a food court……well, in a local mall food court I found this place – in the midst of either an identity crisis or with a world view that is intriguing inclusive….

One must ask, was the proprietor a lover of all things mexican and middle eastren?  An ubiquitous margarita in one hand and a fattoush salad in the other??  Sadly, I think not as the main menu items include cilantro chicken drums (I think they meant drumsticks) and fish rice.

  • So I changed the blog set up to be black so the photos would stand out more….but not sure I am loving it….multiple colors may follow….

  • Yeah….the town is called Shravanabelagola – way too easy to make a joke about saying it at all let alone 3 times fast…anyway….

The Lunderville/Davis-Byrne tour continued with a trip to Shravanabelagola, Mysore, Belpur, and Hassan – it was Dan and Amber's last weekend here.

It was an awesome trip – definately recommend the Mysore Palace WITH the audio tour…got more out of it this time (my 3rd!) – the audio was so well done.  I actually enjoyed myself…no comments please.  There were also amazing temples in Belpur and Hassan that were worth checking out (with a little Kama Sutra sculpture thrown in too boot) – totally doable in a couple of days.

  • This was a constant for the Lunderville/Davis-Byrne contingent….this stuff is like crack – ok, this stuff and Masala Peanuts, oh and Stuffed Kulcha….ummmmm…ok, focus.  As I was saying, this stuff ROCKS – spicy, fried cauliflower goodness! Ahhh shoot, this is turning into food porn again….

  • Dan, Amber and I went to City Market for a little bit today and it was a foto feast.  I, after being there a few times, was on a mission to find other images I liked other than the flowers, veg, and vendors.
